Project Natal

This is Microsoft’s answer to the Wii and it will surely ensure that the Xbox 360 becomes the biggest and best selling console of all time. No controller of any kind is going to be needed at all of this, it is certainly going to be mind blowing when it is eventually released.

The best thing about project Natal is that it is going to be released this year before Christmas and pricing has been estimated at around $80 but I do not think that this is going to be a realistic price at all I would estimate at around $200. The 360 is expected to go on for another five years because of this which means you will not see another Xbox until 2015.

3D TV

Although a nice big 3D television would look good in any home I have to say I am really not impressed with the way this technology is moving. Do not expect this to be cheap, not by any means at all. I am personally going to be holding off on this until the technology picks itself up because at the moment I hardly see the point in wasting my money. This is certainly something that needs to be looked out for in the future.

RC Vehicles

Okay so having a RC Tank or a remote controlled car isn’t exactly something that is new but this year a company is releasing a RC helicopter that users can control with their iPhone. This is somethign worth getting surely. Surely it is not going to be too long before we can start controlling real cars with devices such as the phone like in Tomorow Never Dies. It is certainly safe to say that this is not the last time we will see something like this being controlled by the iPhone!

At the present time though I don’t think that is their role.

Next up is Bill Scott from easelTV, talking about the integration of social network updates to TV screens, how TV watchers are profiled and how to “SEO TV” (something about metadata!).It may sound like I am a bit stroppy, but I don’t really see how this remotely associated with realtime search or at all interesting or forward thinking. Can you really think of anything worse than facebook or tweet updates showing up on my t.v. as I am watching my favourite programme. Let alone realtime ads (*shudder*).

Next on the agenda is William Fischer who is from Workdigital and he informs us all about a product they have developed aimed soley at the recruitment industry to semantically analyse realtime updates from the likes of twitter and Linkedin. It’s a sales pitch. Not interested. If i wanted to be sold something I would have attended a free conference such as TFMA or perhaps Internet World. Yawn.
